Virginia (Giny)'s Story
Wow - figured since that was several years outdated, I should update my story. SO much has changed!
Colorado, while beautiful, was not a good fit for me. I was there for a year and a half when my parents had some medical issues, leading me to go to NC to help them - thinking it would be for a few months... I stayed, retrieving my car and belongings a year later from CO.
While in NC, I made a life changing discovery. I found a man on Facebook I had met in Europe 34 years earlier. We never thought we would find each other again... wow! Five months and over 5,000 emails later, I was on a plane to Norway. That was a year ago. I am now living here, flying back to the States when I can to visit with my children in Tampa and see my family in NC. Tor and I will be legally married here later this summer, making me a legal resident here. We are living in a cottage in the forest - yep - a little Disney-like, and life is wonderful!!! My daughter, Chelsey, visited us here this past winter and wanted to stay - it is SO beautiful! Eating some delicious new foods - moose, grouse... and Tor loves to cook as much as I do. I actually feel like I'm living my own private fairy tale - a dream come true!!! God is amazing!!!! ~Giny 5-2011
OK - after graduation in '73, I worked for several years - the last two in DC at the Business & Professional Woman's Foundation before moving to the Tampa area. Big change. Really thought it was temporary - Virginia...Expand for more
will always be considered 'home' to me, I suppose. Met someone in Tampa and we were married in '80. God blessed us with three amazing children - two boys and a gorgeous daughter. They were and always will be the focus of my life. Brett, my oldest, graduated from FSU four years ago and is still working on his future plans post grad. Joshua will grad. from FSU in the spring of '09, and is mulling over the idea of becoming a museum currator. Chelsey, the light of my life, turned 21 last summer, and while it looked as though she might join me out here - she was just offered an opportunity in Tampa that could prove wonderful for her future - so she plans to try it on and see if it's a good fit. None have settled down as yet with their future mates, so no, I'm not yet a grandparent.
After almost 24 yrs. of marriage, I filed for divorce and about two years later it was finalized. I have been doing mural work for a number of years -specializing in animation, but post divorce have held down several other jobs to make ends meet. They usually do. With the kids adults now - I made a huge lifestyle change almost a year ago and moved to Aurora, CO. My sister and her family settled here and they had been trying to entice me out since my divorce. I finally decided to give it a shot. Starting over is not as smooth a transition as it was many years back, but I'm pretty open to 'new adventures', so we'll see. On the side - I'm still painting and writing.
